I have been busy drawing caricatures and working on studio commissions! Here are a few caricatures from some of my events this past month. They are a high school prom, Clemson University, Painters Greenhouse festival, a wedding expo and the University of Greensboro. Let me know if you want me to draw at your event.
Here is a "cartoon map" of Washington DC I did for United Social Sports. The illustration was made into a poster and t-shirt design. The event was a scavenger hunt around the city.
Usually January,February and the beginning of March is slow in the caricature business. Luckily I have been busy. The first photo is an engagement caricature I did for a couple in Greenville, South Carolina. I set up at Falls Bridge in Greenville and the couple sat for their caricature. I attended three wedding shows and talked to brides about having caricatures at their weddings. The gentleman in the hat works for a limousine company. I drew him at a Greer, SC wedding show. The last photos were drawn at a grand opening for Quaker Skake and Lube in Columbia,SC.
Here I am in front of my caricature booth at a local wedding expo. I tell brides having a caricature artist draw at their wedding is more unique than having a photo booth. Guests are entertained by the experience of being drawn and watching their friends drawn as a caricature.
The other photos are samples of wedding illustrations and services. The illustrations can be used for sign in boards, invitations and gifts. For more formal weddings silhouettes are great entertainment. I also create live wedding ceremony paintings! I start the painting while the ceremony is taking place and take reference photos. Then I take the painting to the reception to finish it. You can click on these photos to enlarge them.
I drew caricatures this past week for an interior design company's grand opening. They had me draw on glass samples that had color backings. Here are a few pictures of my work.
I have been busy! Here is a commissioned caricature with an "American Gothic" painting theme. Two dog caricatures rendered in ink and watercolor washes. Live caricatures of some company employees. A thank you commissioned caricature for a company board member. Finally two commissioned caricatures for a graduation present. I have been busy at other company and city holiday events.
The International Society of Caricature Artist's annual convention was held in San Antonio this year. This was my 7th convention in a row and I had a great time seeing the other artist's work up close. Here I am in front of my wall. I tried something different this year and painted on album covers. I also drew caricatures with markers, color pencil and acrylic ink washes.
