Hello 2019!

Here are a few caricatures from my many events this year and a few commissioned studio projects. Some of the festivals I have drawn at are Spartanburg South Carolina's Spring Fling festival, the West Virginia State Fair in Lewisburg, the NC Apple Festival in Hendersonville,NC, Asheville NC's LEAF Downtown festival and the Haywood County Fair. Caricature Convention and many events

From November 8th to the 13th I attended the International Society of Caricature Artist's annual convention. It was held in Sandusky, Ohio at the Kalahari Resort. Over 175 caricaturists attended who drew many caricatures of each other. Here I am next to my wall of work. I have also been busy drawing at many events and creating illustrations and also did a graphic painting.

San Antonio ISCA Caricature Convention

The International Society of Caricature Artist's annual convention was held in San Antonio this year. This was my 7th convention in a row and I had a great time seeing the other artist's work up close. Here I am in front of my wall. I tried something different this year and painted on album covers. I also drew caricatures with markers, color pencil and acrylic ink washes.

2010 Las Vegas ISCA Convention

While at the International Society of Caricature Artists convention in Las Vegas I filmed the artists and their artwork. This video is 40 minutes I reduced down to this 15 minute film. Click twice onto the video to watch it full size at Youtube.

Here is another video I filmed of the activities at the 2009 ISCA convention. This was my fourth caricature convention and each one gets better. As a member of the International Society of Caricature Artists I have met many new friends. My work has improved by attending workshops and watching the other artists create their artwork.

NCN member Stephen Silver

Here is a video I made of the work of Stephen Silver, a character designer who attended the NCN convention. He also conducted a hands on workshop called "Drawing From Life" where attendees drew from a model. The image below is a sketch before the workshop began.

NCN Caricature Movie

I had fun editing this mini caricature movie of the 17th annual National Caricature Network caricature convention held in North Carolina. I can guarantee you that attending a live caricature convention is ten times more fun than watching it in a film. Hope you can make one on the future. Caricature tutorial by NCN member Sean Gardner

While at the caricature convention I filmed Sean Gardner drawing Deb Donnelly. Sean works at Bush Gardens in Florida and had been drawing caricatures for three years I believe. You can learn a lot by watching him work.

Caricature artists at work

I filmed this at the NCN convention this past week in Raleigh. In the ballroom 180 artists brings in their art supplies for the week. Artists are creating caricatures in airbrush, marker pens, painting, with digital computers, pencil, charcoal and in other mediums. On the walls each artist has their "gallery" of work. Everyone is having fun socializing and also diligently working.
