San Antonio ISCA Caricature Convention

The International Society of Caricature Artist's annual convention was held in San Antonio this year. This was my 7th convention in a row and I had a great time seeing the other artist's work up close. Here I am in front of my wall. I tried something different this year and painted on album covers. I also drew caricatures with markers, color pencil and acrylic ink washes.

Young and Old

I enjoy drawing caricatures of people of all ages. This gentleman was born in 1925 and is known at "The Birdhouse Man" in Asheville. It was drawn on Friday evening across Pritchard Park where the drum circle was going on. The other photos were from an appreciation day event for "First Responder". Mostly families of firefighters and rescue workers.

Boxers

Here are two boxers I illustrated in watercolors. Used black ink for the outlines. These are not portraits. I exaggerated the bodies and features. You can see the changes I made from the photos.

Watercolor Commissions

Here are three commission caricatures from the same client. His wife and a friend were both turning 60 at the same time. The one with both of them together was pocking fun at their age. She likes the I Love Luch show and he was a tennis player.

Spartanburg Spring Fling

This past weekend I was drawing caricatures at Spartanburg South Carolina's Spring Fling. It was my first year drawing at the downtown event.

Wedding Painting

looking for something unique for your wedding day? Here is a watercolor painting I did at a wedding held in Asheville,NC at the Grove Park Inn. I took photos and sketches the day before at the rehearsal. The next day I finished the drawing before the ceremony and started painting. After the ceremony I finished the painting at the reception.

Caricature of Dancers

This weekend the Heritage Classic Dancesport Championships was celebrating 25 years at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. Here is a caricature I did of one of the winners. They performed a hobo theme performance. I also included a color version I did digitally.
