I like making simple graphic caricatures like this one of Scarlett Johansson. This was hand drawn with a brush pen, scanned and colored with the computer program PhotoShop. This is a great style for a gift caricature!

When I am looking at someone's face I think about the head shape (a triangle in this case) and how to exaggerate the "T" shape of the eyes and nose.

21st Annual Comedy Classic Caricatures

This weekend was the Comedy Classic held at the Grove Park Inn. Here are a few of my caricatures. Since I was not busy I spent more time on them.

Caricatures for Wachovia Bank

This past week I drew caricatures for the Wachovia bank Awards night. Roaming around I captured the attendees arriving, sitting together and I drew some of the award receivers. I even drew the guest speaker. These were done quickly, about 4 minutes each.

John McPhee

This is John McPhee, he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1999. A pencil caricature drawing like this one takes over 2 hours to do.

Birthdays Caricatures

Here are some practice caricatures of Lou Reed born March 2nd, Bobby Driscoll born March 3rd, Pier Paolo Pasolini born March 5th and Chris Rea born March 4th. The drawings were done in pencil, charcoal and digitally. It is fun to experiment.

Caricature-O-Gram

A caricature-o-gram is when I surprise someone with a caricature. It is similar to a sing-o-gram. For this event it was Berry's 30th birthday celebration. I arrived at the bank where he works. The other employees also enjoyed being part of the event.

Caricatures for Mission Children's Hospital

I spent this weekend volunteering my caricature services. The Asheville Mall was hosting the first ever Radiothon for the Mission Children’s Hospital. A fundraiser for children’s healthcare in our community. Here is one of my drawings I did. These quick caricatures take me around 2 to 3 minutes per face.
