Alvaro Castagnet Watercolor Workshop

This past week I attended a watercolor workshop by Alvaro Castagnet.

The class was held in Boone, North Carolina at the facilities of Cheap Joe's Art Stuff. I learned a lot and had fun painting. He painted nine demos and two are shown below. During the workshop I drew a caricature of Alvaro.

* I just learned Alvaro is giving another workshop in Boone,NC on October 24-28 in 2011.

RV Couple

Here is a commissioned caricature for a nice couple. They are moving to Texas and enjoy RVing. The size of the drawing is 18" x 24".

The Southeast Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society has their get together here in Asheville,NC this weekend. I met Jack Davis, Nick Meglin and Duck Edwing from MAD magazine. At the Asheville Veterans Affairs Medical Center we drew some of the patients.

2009 ISCA Annual Convention

The first week of November I am attending the International Society of Caricature Artist's convention. This year it will be held in Sandusky, Ohio. Each year the convention has a guest speaker. This year is special. There will be four guest speakers from Mad magazine!

Young Couple

Meet this couple visiting Asheville. This caricatures has a little more detail and analysis compared to my faster festival drawings. The lines are more crisper and I added the shading. Did you notice I only gave her one ear ring? It happens.
