Happy Face Zombie

Illustration for ToonWeekly. I have already submitted three of the challenges and did not want to miss this one. The theme was Zombie. I started with the hands then added the happy face zombie. In the hands I got carried away with Corel Painter's brushes.

Dusty Sketchbook

These are sketches from a 10.5" by 13.5" bound sketchbook of mine. I bought the sketchbook 8 years ago and was less than a third filled. The baseball sketch was done 7 years ago. So I decided to start drawing in it again. The figure drawings are from this past week.

Clown Spider

The theme for the ToonWeekly challenge this week is clowns. Since there are flea circuses why can't there be clown spiders?

    Charlotte Caricatures

Holiday caricatures I did for a office in Charlotte. I met their secretaries and they wanted me to do them for gifts. I could have gone more exaggerated but they wanted them tamer. Click on them to enlarge.

    Exaggerated Figure

These four charcoal sketches are of the same model. I exaggerated the masses and altered the face and skull. I also enlarged and decreased the hands and feet. While drawing them I was thinking about Pablo Picasso and similar artists. Here are a few links to other artist's exaggerated figures I like.

    Charcoal Portrait

"I did not know you could do that!" That is the reaction I get from people who think I only do caricatures and cartoons. I enjoy doing "fine art" and "exaggerated art".

This is a charcoal study (in black) of a sketch (in red) by Jean-Baptiste Greuze. Found the sketch and article on the artist in the Fall 2007 American Artist:Drawing magazine.

    Rock Star

Did this for the Toonweekly character challenge.
I was thinking about '80s metal rock stars. Skinny screamers with big black spiky hair.
